Improve the health of Windsor-Essex County employees and their families through a comprehensive workplace wellness program that has workplace health policy development and recognition as a key focus.

Develop, promote and distribute Working Toward Wellness Comprehensive Workplace Wellness strategy components –Spring 2011, Fall 2011 and Winter 2012.

Workplaces in Windsor-Essex County are encouraged and supported in developing policies that support employees in improving their overall health and wellbeing at the worksite and beyond.
 

To develop, print and distribute Spring 2011, Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 Workplace Wellness initiative resources.

Resources are distributed to more than 250 local workplaces with more than 50 employees.

To provide employers with resources that supports them in their efforts to develop healthy workplace policies.
 

Workplace contacts will receive Spring 2011, Fall 2011 and Winter 2012 Workplace Wellness initiative resources.       
Working Toward Wellness Workplace Wellness resource package which include a focus on workplace health policies.      

Workplace contacts have increased knowledge and capacity to initiate relevant health policies for their workplace. 

Workplace contacts have encouragement, support and know how to work on policies that help to qualify their workplace for a Healthy Workplace Award recognition.

To encourage local workplaces to identify, advocate and develop policies that support an alcohol and substance abuse free workplace policy. Host a community forum targeting key workplace decision makers, and frontline staff to identify, advocate and develop policies that support an alcohol and substance abuse free workplace policy. Local workplace decision makers will receive data and resources supporting the benefit of policy strategies that supports an alcohol and substance abuse workplace.

To discuss and disseminate the benefits, challenges and reasons behind workplace wellness policies.


To outline the process of developing a partnership and policy strategies. 

Develop and publish a discussion paper in a professional journal.

Disseminate the Go For Health policy strategy and the process it took to create this partnership. Discuss the benefits and importance of policy work.

Improve adult nutrition and physical activity practices through the broad promotion and support of workplace-based Healthy Meetings and Events Policy. Update the Healthy Meetings and Events Policy that will be offered to adapt and implement in Windsor-Essex County Councils, Board Meetings and Workplaces.

Update the Healthy Meetings and Events Policy.

Host a community-wide workshop focused on how to operationalize the policy into any type of situation where people gather for meetings, workshops, forums, etc.

The plan is to approach individual municipal councils to consider formal adoption of the Healthy Meetings and Events Policy in 2011.

Host a community-wide workshop to increase the number of organizations and workplaces that adopt the Healthy Meetings and Events Policy.
